I posted a bug on their github page but they say the issue would be with No Stranger SMS, here is the issue:

If you use F-Droid build, it should be updated soon. Theres's also a package here: https://github.com/glesik/nostrangersms/releases/tag/v1.4.1. Be aware that these two are signed with different keys.

Okay, ver 1.4.1 works fine with TextSecure, so this issue is closed.

Any ideas on making it work with KitKat?

I haven't tried it myself and don't know all the technical details, but KitKat has changed the way Android handles SMS application, so, according to web, SMS filtering app will stop working, most of them anyway.

I think it has something to do with how you can make one SMS app default, and only it gets the notification or SM or something.
